One of our high country gems is Kennedy Meadows, it truly is one of the most beautiful places you will ever see, with the Middle Fork of the Stanislaus River, full of Rainbow Trout, meandering through an aspen studded meadow with horseback riding, pack station trail head to the Emigrant Wilderness Area. Recently, I've discovered the Central Sierra east side, only 2 hours from Twain Harte over the Sierra's most beautiful pass, the magnificent Sonora Pass. The east side offers a great variety of trophy trout angling. I spend many summer hours standing in a stream with my fly rod in hand.
